The Sharks are Super Rugby's leaders and are the only team to have played four matches and won all four. The Stormers are also unbeaten but they have only played three matches so far.
Last week the Sharks were not as impressive as they have been in past weeks but they still came away with the win. They not only conceded their first try but they also let the Rebels get a bonus point for scoring four tries and the Rebels led for much of the match.
That scare could work in their favour as the Sharks face the Chiefs this weekend and in Round three the Chiefs hammered the Rebels 38-10 so the Sharks should be expecting a much tougher match.
Last week the Chiefs looked to be on track to win their second Super rugby match when they played the Hurricanes but they wilted in the second half and the Hurricanes snatched victory from them 29-26.
The Chiefs mid-field has been boosted by the return of Richard Kahui and he will partner the ageless Tana Umaga. The Chiefs have also ended their winless streak at home which lasted over a year.
In Hamilton the Sharks have played six and won three which is not a bad return for an away venue. In the 15 games between The Sharks and the Chiefs to date, they have scored 99 tries between them at an average of 6.6 per match.
On average the Chiefs score 26 points a match against the Sharks who on average score 27 points per match.
The two teams have actually played each other 15 times but only 13 times as the Sharks - the Sharks once played at Natal.
Twice since 1996 have these teams been involved in 10 try crackers - the first in 1996 when the Sharks (then still Natal) crushed the Chiefs by 63-25 in Durban, scoring seven tries to three, a similar try count to 2008, when the Durban franchise defeated the Chiefs 47-25.
The Chiefs have won two of the last five matches between the two teams and the Sharks have won three. It should be noted that the Sharks did have three home matches compared to the Chiefs two so they enjoyed more home advantage.
That said home advantage is not too big a factor between the teams as they have both won away from home - like last year when the Chiefs pipped the Sharks 18-19 in Durban in the first round. That day Rory Kockott (now a Lion) kicked all of the Sharks points and Stephen Donald kicked a last penalty for the win.
The Bookies have given the Chiefs a one point start for this match - they have an offer of Bet 10 and get 20. We think last week's match gave the Sharks a big wake up call and we expect the Sharks to win this one by 5.
